JCK is a technical consultancy specializing in training and practicing user-focused data architecture. Based out of Michigan, we have worked across the continent to teach and consult with firms large and small, helping them communicate better with their users and design better systems.

In business since 1989, we’ve worked with manufacturing, finance, insurance, health care, retail, public sector, education, non-profit, and military operations. Our premiere class is Business Event Analysis & Modeling™, but we also offer the venerable Extended Relational Analysis™ as well as classes in SQL and data warehouse design.

We’ve also designed, written, and implemented ERP and data warehouse solutions. We’ve been the data architecture resource of choice for major projects such as Virginia Medicaid and the Michigan Employment Security Commission.

Since 1989, JCK has been devoted to teaching and implementing the principles of User-Focused Data Architecture. UFDA is based on the principle that the users are the data experts in any organization. Sound data architecture should focus on extracting the user's knowledge, clarifying ambiguous defintions, and building understandable data structures. These definitions and structures serve as the basis for system development. The first and most well known UFDA technique is Extended Relational Analysis ™ (ERA), which has been proven for decades. More recent techniques include Business Event Analysis & Modeling ™ (BEAM), which is useful for both Transactional Systems (BEAM TSS) and Decision Support Systems (BEAM DSS).
